A Poem By Sister Dionne Elliott – Nov 2017

FOUNDATION

To build a solid house, takes than more than Bricks and Mortar,

Perseverance, patience and planning with great thought.

Once the thorough planning and vigilant preparation takes place,

The building can commence, in first forming the foundation with no room for mistakes.

Take a look around you; there is more to what physical eyes can see.

For this place of worship, where we gather weekly,

Is more than just a tangible building, with doors and windows, Rostrum and seats,

 But indeed it breathes Legacy.

To build a solid house, takes more than Bricks and Mortar,

Perseverance, Patience and planning with great thought.

Yes, we assemble in this place today, in celebration, of which 50 years ago, was laid a solid foundation,

Through obedience, faith, struggle and strife,

You stood as God’s Soldiers, beloved Pioneers of The Light and Life.

To build a solid house, takes more than Bricks and Mortar,

Perseverance, patience and planning with great thought.

1st Corinthians 3:11 specifies,

“For no man can lay a foundation, other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

So ultimately we thank you, our Heavenly Father,

Who, over 2000 years ago in human flesh,

upon Earth came to reside,

For a time,

to carry out his masterplan,

and cry out “ It is finished”,

for the Salvation of Man.

To build a solid house, takes more than Bricks and Mortar,

Perseverance, patience and planning with great thought.

When we examine the word foundation, the definition is this,

The lowest ‘load bearing’ part of a building, typically below ground level.

The lowest load bearing? Yes, much a load has been bared, upon the shoulders of those, who to the challenge to birth this Ministry arose,

Where many have come, and still many go,

But the foundation remains unchanged, too deep to be rearranged,

still standing on the Cornerstone.

To build a solid house, takes more than Bricks and Mortar,

Perseverance, patience and planning with great thought.

Today we Celebrate 36 years of more than just a name,

but the fulfilling of the work which was started,

by true Warriors, our Founders, Reverend and Evangelist Simpson,

 who have sadly departed.

While a great loss to all who love them so dear,

it is great gain to the Kingdom, so let us make a glorious cheer!

To build a solid house, takes more than Bricks and Mortar,

Perseverance, patience and planning with great thought.

James 2:20 reminds, that faith without works is dead!

And the evidence is plain to see.

For had it not been for the action taken and dedication of our founders, and faithful committee,

I strongly doubt that The Light and Life Full Gospel Fellowship would have ever been!

To build a solid house, takes more than Bricks and Mortar,

Perseverance, patience and planning with great thought.

It is said that a successful man, keeps to his commitments, this is what aids his success,

as he has proved himself trustworthy, loyal with integrity, and candour, a man of his word.

In which case, we can declare, that the mission set out, thus far is proving to be a success,

For as the baton was passed to the first Daughter to grasp,

The firm foundation stands strong, in saving souls.

To build a solid house, takes more than Bricks and Mortar,

Perseverance, patience and planning with great thought.

We commemorate those who have gone before us, from the disciples, apostles, prophets and priest,

But never can we forget the candid reason why this ministry started,

To save the lost, spread the word, to let the world know that Jesus is the way, the Truth and the life,

Long may the foundation stand strong!

To build this solid house, takes more than Bricks and Mortar,

Perseverance, patience, prayer and planning with great thought.
